Delete single recent call on iPhone without jailbreaking

Someone asked me: how to delete a single recent call record on iPhone? Searching on Google, we will find out some third party APP can do this, but they all need you “Jailbreak” your iPhone.
Is there a way to delete single recent call without jailbreaking? The answer is: YES.

First, you need download and install a software on your computer with Windows system, the program named iTunes Backup Manager.
Then follow these steps:

  • 1.Run iTunes, connect your iPhone to computer, right click your iPhone name in left side window of iTunes, select “Back Up” from popup menu.
  • 2.Close iTunes, run iTunes Backup Manager, click your iPhone name in left side window, select main menu->Plugin->Call History, the program will show a Call History Viewer, select the record that you want to delete and click Delete button, then close Call History Viewer.
  • 3.Select main menu->File->Restore, select “Restore only modified file(s)” then click OK.
    Notice: For iOS4, we still havn’t find out how to restore part of backup files, so the option to restore only changed or selected files disabled and you can only make a full restore. We are still trying to resolve it.
    Because of you can only restore full backup, So before you modify a file, please backup your iPhone with iTunes and modify on the newest backup.

After the restore process done, your iPhone will restart, then you can check your call history list:)

Need for Speed Undercover: Get $1000000 without jailbreaking

Need for Speed Undercover is the best racing game on iPhone, at least for me:) It have great story line and great graphics.
Now with iTunes Backup Manager, we can cheat the game without jailbreak our iPhone (or iPod Touch), because it can modify iTunes backed-up file an transfer back to iPhone (or iPod Touch).
Here are the steps to get $1000000 in the game:
1. Run the game on iPhone, purchase a car and remember how many money you have.
2. Exit the game, connect iPhone to computer, run iTunes, right click your iPhone in left window of iTunes, select “Back up”:

3. Run iTunes Backup Manager, select “NFSU” in left window, then double click “Documents/gamedata” in right window:

4. The program will show a hex editor window, press CTRL+G, enter 17 then press OK button:

5. The “BE Dword” value at bottom-right should be your current money, now enter “00989680”:

6. Select main menu->File->Restore, select “Only restore modified file(s)” and press OK button, wait the restore process done, your iPhone will restart.
7. Now you can run the game and check your money:

Modify iPhone & iPod Touch game data without jailbreaking

With iTunes Back Manager, we can modify game data without jailbreaking!

For example, I’m playing a game named “Dungeon Hunter” and I want more money in the game, here are the steps:

1. Run the game on your iPhone / iPod Touch, create a new game on slot 1, play a while and exit the game. Before exit, I have $112:

2. Run iTunes on your computer, connect iPhone / iPod Touch, right click it in iTunes and select “Back Up”.

3. Exit iTunes, run iTunes Back Manager, expand you iPhone/iPod Touch name, click “Dungeon Hunter”, you can find a file named “Documents/DQM_001.savegame”, double click it, the program will pop a Hex Editor window.

4. Find string “PINV” and edit the next two bytes to FF FF, save the modification and exit Hex Editor.

5. Click Restore button on the toolbar, select Restore only modified file(s) and press OK button, wait a few minute.

6. After restore success, you iPhone / iPod Touch will restart automatically, now you can run the game again and check your money, you should have $65535:):

Change iPhone carrier name and time string without jailbreaking

As we know, we have to “JailBreak” our iPhone/iPod Touch to change carrier name and time string. But with iTunes Backup Manager, we can do this without jailbreaking.

Please follow these steps:
1.Run iTunes, connect your iPhone/iPod Touch, when its name appears in iTunes, right click it and select “Back Up”.

2.Close iTunes, run iTunes Backup Manager, select your iPhone/iPod Touch name in left tree pane, find Library/Preferences/com.apple.springboard.plist in right list pane and double click it. carrier-name-1

3.Find first tag in the plist Editor window, enter follow contents:

<key>SBFakeCarrier</key>
<string>your carrier name</string>
<key>SBFakeTime</key>
<string>YES</string>
<key>SBFakeTimeString</key>
<string>your time string</string>

4.Select main menu->File->Restore, select Restore only modified file(s) and press OK, wait few minutes til the restore success. carrier-name-3
